2d & 3d!general use in FM repeat mode as of Friday, July 30, 2004
The Echo FM voice uplink frequency is 145.920 MHz, and the downlink is 435.300 MHz.
The downlink transmitter will come on when it hears an uplink signal with a 67 Hz CTCSS
(PL) tone for about 1 second, and it will stay on for 10 seconds after that signal goes away.
"This operation is just like a terrestrial FM repeater with a 1 second 'kerchunk' filter
and a 10 second hang time," AMSAT noted. Transmitter A (TX A), now sending telemetry,
generally will continue to operate on 435.150 MHz.

The Yaesu VX-7R has a unique Internet key,
prominently located at the bottom right corner of the keypad. This
provides
easy access to WIRES™ - Wide-Coverage Internet Repeater
FRG (Friends' Repeater Group) operating mode involves a worldwide assortment of repeaters and base stations that have configured their nodes to get calls from any other WIRES™ node.
SRG (Sister Repeater Group) operating mode allows paging of any WIRES™ node (repeater or base station) within a pre-arranged closed group, using a single DTMF digit for access.
WIRES™ is an easy-to-install method of linking repeaters via the Internet, for emergency networking, "sister city" repeater communication, or just plain fun. Requiring only a 56K dial-up service (not an expensive DSL or T1 line), WIRES™ can link up to 10 repeaters (by prior arrangement), with a single DTMF tone (at the start of each transmission) providing access to the WIRES network.
While WIRES™ networks may be accessed
using any manufacturer's transceiver that is equipped with a DTMF keypad,
the VX-7R's Internet key provides automatic transmission of the
required
DTMF burst, for easy access
when seconds count.
ARTS
feature, which can be critically important in search-and-rescue
applications.
ARTS provides a "hand-shake" with other ARTS equipped transceivers, and
the display indicates if an Out of Range condition exists. The base
station
(typically a mobile unit like the FT-8900R) can then alert the field
unit
to move to a better location. A six character CW ID memory also is
provided
for Morse code identification of your station every ten minutes during
ARTS operation.
