In Sept. 1995 my father passed away.
During
the
month of October of
1995 it was discovered that my father was the sole source of many
family stories
and wisdom that had been handed down to me. Now that he
was gone there was no other source that had the same
mix of experience
or advice.
The void of my being able to
relate to my fathers experience is what
created the inspiration to create the process
and means to record,
collate and make available on a broad basis this kind of wisdom, story
telling and experience.
On May 23, 2002 a concentrated and recorded effort was engaged, to
create a service that would preserve our
life stories, experiences annd
wisdom. Even today the result is dynamic in that improvments are
being made regularly.
Why would you want it? How would the
service be used?
Example 1:
Sue Simple has just learned
that
her grandmother is
approaching her final time in this life.
Sue realizes that her
grandmother is the principal source of all the family history and is
the principal storyteller within her family.
When grandmother is gone
so will be much of the recollection’s accuracy of lessons and stories
from generations before her.
Realizing she can establish an account
with the GraceTime system that offers a way to record vocal
conversations via cell phone by
simply dialing a number and selecting
her personal area for recording she establishes an account.
Because of
the transcription services offered by the GraceTime system she can go
back and edit any
prior recorded stories / information or establish and
record a new category.
What really
impresses her is that the
GraceTime system is a IP (internet) based
multimedia system.
GraceTime assigns a unique storage address to this
select information.
Sue can also record or upload other related
multimedia including but not limited to audio, pictures, text, and
movies via
her personal computer or other digitally connected device.
The GraceTime System will in return make the recordings
permissibly
available virtually for reproduction (viewing, listening, and editing)
and have means available for producing
a soft or hardcopy for her
edification or personal possession.
After Sue’s
family and her grandmother
finish recording all they want,
they will have the option to create
keepsakes for existing and future
generations of their family and friends. They will be able to label any
picture,
memory stick, digital media, memorial marker or scrapbook with
a bar code, number, IP address,
(Remote ID method**) attachment and
link all the previous mentioned to a central, virtual or other
source
for reproducing the multimedia formatted information.
When Sue’s
grandchildren want to see
or hear grandma, they could take
the recorded medium
(memory stick or other) and plug it into any
appropriate player equipped for that medium and play it.
They also have
the choice of using a portable remote digital connected device to query
by the ID
label / number or subject to arrive at Grandmas virtual
repository of information about that query.
If Grandma and
the family permit the
saved information to be public,
then any one who is virtually connected
to the GraceTime multimedia
storage service can access the saved information.
The entrant of course
would be registered and have the proper permissions.
The entrants will
have the opportunity to search and enjoy all possible information they
have permission to.
Remember it
could be an old friend or
great, great grandchild of
grandmas looking at her grave
/ memorial 50 years from now. At that
time one might indeed simply take a remote wireless digital
multimedia
LCD devise that is equipped with a digital ID reader (Remote ID
method**) and scan the grave
/ memorial / marker. Within seconds the
remote device detects the ID, connects to the virtual
location of
multimedia pre-recorded information and automatically initiates a
interactive presentation.
The presentation will allow the user to query
or simply listen to the highlights of who grandma says
she is, what she
has done or learned. She will come to virtual life for your families’
enjoyment and enlightenment.
Example 2
John
Smith has
just found out that his life is coming to an end.
However he has 6 months or so to do what he needs to do.
Because John
is a younger man he is realizing his children and grandchildren will
probably not get the benefit of his
experience or knowledge.
To record
and store the knowledge and experience he wants to leave behind he sets
up an account with GraceTime.
In order to insure as much knowledge
transfer as possible John collects
all the pictures, text, videos and memorabilia
he can and records on
his personal GraceTime virtual site.
He also starts recording via a cell
phone transcription connection, all
the memories and family heirloom stories
he can remember. The stories
or information he can’t remember exactly he reinforces by arranging
conversation
sessions with those that know the stories better and have
other imagery, audio or multimedia to contribute.
Within a few months John could have
a fairly composite collection and
presentation of what he wants to pass on.
Of course all this will be
held private as John and his family have made that decision.
John will
leave it to his survivors to decide the privacy issues for his
information in the future.

4. Description of the Invention:

Description of the Parts –
Many of the parts, application and
software systems that make up the
overall GraceTime method
and process are standard off the shelf items.
It is when you combine them and apply the multiple
parts to one purpose
that the GraceTime aggregate process of a means to record, collate and
make
available on a broad basis, life experiences, wisdom and story
telling in a local (or remote) mode becomes very unique.
