Dear fire personnel,
On Saturday, June
14th, 2008
from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the Traditions Fire Company & Museum is
hosting
the 3rd Annual “Great Plains Fire Muster and Firefighters
Olympics”
at the Great Plains Mall in Olathe, KS.
We are asking that
you please
consider contributing by bringing one piece of fire apparatus (engine,
rescue,
quint, brush truck, water tender, or ladder truck) to the parade and
muster. A fire truck parade consisting of
in-service
and antique fire apparatus will begin the parade at 0900 hours, and
last about
20 minutes. The parade line-up location
is going to be on the street near the Olathe Fire Department
Headquarters in
Olathe, KS (1220 S. Hamilton Circle). At
the end of the parade, all in-service trucks will assemble at the
muster site,
which is in the parking lot at the Southwest corner of the Great Mall
of the
Great Plains (across from Olathe Medical Center); where they will line
up for a
photograph. The photograph should be
completed by 1000 hours, at which time the rest of the muster events
commence.
The trucks would be
free to
leave at any time, as they are not expected to stay for the
duration of
the muster which ends at 1400 hours (however they are welcome to stay
if they
would like!!). A special parking area
has been designated for in-service apparatus that allows adequate quick
egress
should the in-service apparatus want to leave, in the event of a fire
call,
etc.
Each department
that brings a
truck to the parade and aerial Johnson County truck photograph will
receive a free
CD that contains the digital photo of all the trucks lined up; which
you can
then print and frame if you so wish.
Please consider
brining one
truck to the “Great Plains Fire Muster” for participation in the muster! Please call Paul Dickman at 913-832-0145 if
you are participating. There is no cost
for anything!
As always, we
welcome all antique
fire apparatus as well, and each department can bring as many pieces of
apparatus as they wish! The more the
better!
If you have any
questions or
would like to register, please call Paul Dickman at 913-832-0145 or
Virginia
Shaumeyer at 913-829-4319.
Hope to hear from
you soon!
Respectfully,
Paul Dickman, CFEI/ CVFI
