Dear _________________________,

On Saturday, June 14th, 2008 from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, the Traditions Fire Company & Museum is hosting the 3rd Annual “Great Plains Fire Muster and Firefighters Olympics” at the Great Plains Mall in Olathe, KS.

As part of the muster, we want to invite you to bring your fire truck(s) to the muster.  A parade will start the muster at 9:00 AM sharp (line-up time is 8:15 AM).  The parade check in location will be at the Olathe Fire Department Headquarters (1220 S. Hamilton Circle, Olathe, KS)—see the attached map.  The parade is about one mile, and will end at the Great Mall of the Great Plains, where all trucks will park for the fire muster; which will last until 2:00 PM.  If you want to come the night before, security will be provided for the trucks overnight.

Everyone who brings a fire truck to the event will receive a free dash plaque commemorating this years muster!  There are no fees for the muster—just come and have a good time!

During the muster there will be several events, such as a 3-event “Firefighters Olympics” , where local firefighters will compete in contests of a “165 lb. dummy drag”, an “ole-time pass-the-bucket water brigade”, and the grande finale: a “hose stream keg barrel push”!  Along with the Firefighters Olympics, there will be displays of antique and in-service fire trucks, law enforcement displays, ham radio operator booths, storm spotter booths, safety information for children, families, and the elderly, a Red Cross Communications van,  medical and law enforcement helicopters, a US Army Humvee, an electrical utility crew truck that you can ride in 40 feet into the air, and a real 1.5 inch charged hose line that children can spray (monitored and held by a firefighter at all times for safety purposes).

Please complete the attached registration form so that we will know how many “truck dash plaques” to order, and send it to the above address for Traditions Fire Co. & Museum; or call Virginia Shaumeyer at 913-829-4319 if  would like to register via phone.

If you have any questions (muster, available hotels, etc) call Virginia Shaumeyer at 913-829-4319 or Paul Dickman at 913-832-0145.  Hope to hear from you soon!

Respectfully,
